Start of Class

Describe something you learned in high school.

Learned academically? Well, that’s going to be interesting because most of my high school years I felt like everything fell out of my brain each night as I slept on my side. It was as if some street sweeper went thought and said, “eh, this doesn’t matter,” and took it away.

So I cannot fault my teachers much for having faulted my memory or recall.

I do remember having a great science teacher, Mr. Morgan. Each day he’s start class the exact same, “Alright, let’s get the horseplay outta the room…comments, questions, gripes, complaints, anniversary announcements….”

All of us would try to keep asking and talking about anything, hoping to distract him from making us do the dreaded work. But in a way, he was still teaching us science and information. We thought we were clever, but I suspect he knew exactly what he was doing.
